A woman who died after being caught in floodwater has been named as Annie Hall, a former High Sheriff of Derbyshire.

She was swept away by the River Derwent in Darley Dale, near Matlock.

Emergency services were called in the early hours of Friday, and her body was found further downstream a short time later.

Mrs Hall's family say they are "in great shock and grieving".

In South Yorkshire, fire and rescue said it had conducted almost 200 rescues across the county since heavy downpours started to cause flooding on Thursday.

There are also 54 flood warnings, covering rivers including the Trent, the Dearne, the Derwent, the Ryton and the Rother.

Met Office weather forecaster Marco Petanga said Sheffield had 84mm of rain in 36 hours - almost the average monthly rainfall for Yorkshire.

Snow has fallen in parts of Wales and is expected in southwest Scotland and Cumbria.

A yellow weather warning for rain covers eastern Northern Ireland until 8pm on Saturday.

Boris Johnson has said the flooding does not amount to a "national emergency" - as Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn called for an inquiry.

Mr Corbyn called for an inquiry into how the UK's flood defences could be improved.

"My thoughts are with the family of the woman who has died after being swept away by floodwater in Derbyshire," he wrote on Twitter.

"There needs to be an inquiry into these floods and what more should be done to protect communities from the growing risks of flooding."
