Thick fog is expected to cause travel disruption as forecasters warn of low visibility in North Wales.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for fog, which will come into force at 4am on Tuesday and last until 11am.

Forecasters are warning people to expect delays on the roads and public transport networks as a result of the weather.

A spokesman for the Met Office said: "Visibility could be less than 100m in places across parts of England and east Wales on Tuesday morning.

"Whilst the fog is expected to gradually lift and thin during the morning, some patches could persist until lunchtime in the east."

The Met Office said people could experience "dense fog and freezing fog patches", which they have warned will "likely lead to some travel disruption".

They added that there could be "slower journey times with delays to bus and train services possible" and the "chance of delays or cancellations to flights".

Forecasters are predicting that temperatures could drop below freezing overnight in some parts of North Wales, before the mercury rises to around 6C later in the day.

There will be spells of sunshine later in the day, but wind levels will also increase.

Temperatures will remain on the low side for much of the rest of the week, with rain also becoming a factor by Thursday.
