A 47-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder over the killing of a man in Essex. The woman , the second person held in connection with the death, was arrested on Thursday morning after a 19-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday evening.

A woman has been arrested over the murder of a teenager found buried in a shallow grave 20 years ago.

Detectives investigating the murder of 18-year-old Jonathan Cairns in Ballykelly arrested the 44-year-old woman “on suspicion of murder” in the Dungiven area earlier today (Tuesday).

Jonathan’s body was found in a shallow grave in Loughermore Forest, between Claudy and Limavady, after he was attacked as he made his way home from a night out in the early hours of April 25, 1999, police say.

The suspect has been taken to Musgrave Serious Crime Suite for questioning.

Detective Inspector Adrian Brown said: “I continue to appeal for information in relation to Jonathan’s murder. For over 20 years, Jonathan’s family and friends have suffered intolerable grief and they deserve answers.

Richard Canlin, 41, of no fixed address, has been charged with murder after the body of 39-year-old Nicola Stevenson was found by a dog walker.Her body was found in a wheelie bin that had been "dumped in the undergrowth" at the edge of a recreation ground in Lewes at 12.30pm last Wednesday, according to police.Detectives say Ms Stevenson suffered a significant head injury and a post-mortem shows she died as a result of blunt force trauma to her head.Her next-of-kin have been informed.

Police investigating Mr Hicks' death arrested the woman , 47, on Thursday after the 19-year-old man was held for questioning the previous evening. Essex Police said results of the post-mortem examination were "inconclusive". It was now awaiting further forensic tents into the death of Mr Hicks.

Two arrested in 38-year-old cold case murder investigation .
Two pensioners have been arrested following a cold case investigation into the murder of a woman 38 years ago. The body of Carol Morgan, 36, was found at Morgan's Store in Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire, in August 1981.Despite a number of arrests at the time, no one was ever charged over her death.On Wednesday officers from Bedfordshire Police arrested a 69-year-old man and a 70-year-old woman in Brighton on suspicion of her murder.
