Lauren Griffiths was aged 21 when she died. Madog Llewellyn Rowlands, 22, is accused of killing Lauren Griffiths in her home in Cathays, a suburb of Cardiff popular with students, in April. On Thursday Rowlands appeared at Cardiff Magistrates' Court following a six-month investigation.

A 22-year-old man has denied murdering his girlfriend found dead in their flat.

Lauren Griffiths, 21, described as a "bubbly beautiful girl," was found dead in their flat in Cathays in Cardiff.

Her boyfriend Madog Llewellyn Rowlands, 22, appeared at Cardiff Crown Court today charged with Lauren's murder.

Appearing via video link from Cardiff Prison, he pleaded not guilty to murder.

After Lauren's death in April, her heartbroken family said: "We all miss Lauren so much, she truly was our ray of sunshine. Our lives have been torn apart."

Rowlands, from Wrexham, North Wales, will face a three-week trial in April 2020.

He was remanded in custody.
