  Search for missing man near Clare coast expected to resume this morning Search for missing man near Clare coast expected to resume this morning for an elderly man reported missing in Co Clare yesterday.An air, land and sea search was mounted last night amid concerns for the man whose car was found close to Blackhead Lighthouse in the north of the county.The search was concentrated in the area around the lighthouse where the man’s car was found last night. It’s understood however that the car may have been there for most of the day.After the car was located, gardaí requested assistance from the Irish Coast Guard to carry out a search of the area.

A body has been found in the search for a pilot who went missing off the coast of North Wales.

The discovery was made by the North West Underwater Search Team just off Puffin Island off the coast of Anglesey shortly after 2pm this afternoon.

Professor David Last and his Cessna light aircraft disappeared from radar near Puffin Island at around 12.45pm on Monday, November 25.

Police say his family have been informed.

Inspector Dave Cochran said: "Just after 2pm this afternoon, divers recovered a body just off Puffin Island.

"The family of Professor David Last have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers from North Wales Police."

  Anglesey plane crash: police update on search for missing pilot Police have had to suspend their ongoing search for David Last until the weather subsidesNorth Wales Police have been continuing searches for Professor David Last and his Cessna light aircraft which disappeared from radar near Puffin Island on Monday November 25.

Police said local officers are liaising with the coroner and Professor Last’s family have requested  that their privacy is respected at this difficult time.

Professor Last's plane had taken off from Caernarfon Airport and was due to fly over the Great Orme and return to Gwynedd - but it never made it back.

Extensive searches involving the coastguard, lifeboats, a search and rescue helicopter, police divers had been carried out, with only debris found up until today.

The coastguard called off their own search around three days after the plane vanished, while police have continued to search when weather conditions allow it.

The respected professor was hailed as an expert in navigation , with friends and colleagues saying he was globally renowned in his field.
