  Woman (70s) dies in Clare road crash The head-on crash involved a car and a fuel truck. It appears that the woman, believed to be in her early 70s, may have lost control of her car which crossed the road before colliding with the oncoming truck. The lorry driver was uninjured.Two units of Kilrush Fire Brigade along with an ambulance and rapid response advanced paramedic unit responded to the incident.Paramedics are understood to have spent over 30 minutes battling to resuscitate the woman however she was pronounced dead at the scene at around 4.40pm.

A man his died following a road traffic collision in Co Antrim last night.

The male, who was a pedestrian, passed away at the scene on the Glenavy Road on Sunday January 19.

Police are appealing for witnesses and dash-cam footage from the surrounding areas.

Inspector Gordon said: “The collision occurred at 11:30pm, and involved a vehicle and a pedestrian.

“Police attended the scene, along with the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service , but sadly the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

“We are appealing to anyone who may have been on the Glenavy Road just prior to or around the time of the collision, or anyone who recorded any dashcam or mobile phone footage that could potentially help our investigation.

A 37-year-old pedestrian has died following a collision in Berkshire. A Peugeot 106 was in collision with the man in Station Road, Thatcham, at about 2048 GMT on Sunday. He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. A spokesman added the road was closed for a number of hours while the

The Glenavy Road near Maghaberry was closed for a time, but has since re-opened.

Police officer dies in single-vehicle crash on M6 .
A 47-year-old police officer has died following a single-vehicle crash on the M6, Cumbria Constabulary has said. The male officer died at the scene, between junction 44 and 43 southbound of the motorway, after the collision at around 2pm on Sunday.He was the only occupant of the vehicle.The officer worked for Cumbria Constabulary's mobile support group.Specialist officers are supporting his family.The Central Motorway Police Group tweeted: "I'm sure I speak on behalf of all our followers in sending our thoughts and prayers to the officer's colleagues, family and friends at this tragic time.
