Emergency services have raced to a horror smash involving a police vehicle and a council care service car in Glasgow .

Police were alerted to a two-vehicle crash on Edinburgh Road in the Springboig area of the city at around 8.15pm on Monday night.

One person inside – believed to be a police officer – was rushed to hospital after being removed from the vehicle.

Police officer dies in single-vehicle crash on M6 .
A 47-year-old police officer has died following a single-vehicle crash on the M6, Cumbria Constabulary has said.
