A South Belfast road has been closed again in both directions after a building fire reignited.

The blaze, which started around 1.10am on Tuesday morning, took place at the Blaze and Glaze restaurant on University Road.

The Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service confirmed they were called back to the site after a small fire broke out on Tuesday.

The closure is once again between Upper Crescent and University Street.

Police investigating the fire revealed earlier that they were treating it as an arson attack.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "The earlier fire on University Road has reignited and as such, the road has been closed in both directions. Please seek alternative routes."

At its peak more than 50 firefighters were battling the blaze, which was eventually deemed to be under control during the early hours of January 21.

Seven fire appliances, including one specialist fire command unit and an aerial appliance, attended the scene.

A NIFRS spokesperosn said: "At approximately 11:07am on January 21 the fire on University Road reignited.

"Firefighters are working hard to extinguish the fire and the incident is ongoing.”
