Cops are treating an attack on a man and woman in a Scottish borders town as attempted murder .

A male, 19, and a female, 20, were both rushed to the Borders General Hospital on Friday, March 6, following the assault in the village of Ashkirk .

Police Scotland are treating the incident, which took place at around 11.30pm, as attempted murders.

Officers are following a positive line of enquiry .

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Police in Selkirk are investigating the attempted murder of a 19-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman, which took place around 11.30pm on Friday 6 March in the Ashkirk area.

"Officers are currently following positive lines of enquiry."
