It is a difficult and strange rugby landscape at present but I have to say I am disappointed and gobsmacked by the mass Barbarians 'breakout' on Wednesday night when 12 of their squad descended on a restaurant.

It now transpires there was another group dining out on Tuesday when they should not have been and the RFU, feeling that the bubble had been compromised, felt they had no option other than to cancel the game.

They were correct to do so as health comes first at all times right now and sportsmen should be setting a better example. Those players involved must be feeling stupid and embarrassed.

Transgender women will still be allowed to play domestic rugby

Transgender women will still be allowed to play domestic rugby England's Rugby Football Union decided 'further scientific evidence' was needed before rules about transgender players - adopted by World Rugby last week - could be taken on. In February, World Rugby launched a review into whether transgender women should be allowed to play on women's rugby teams due to concerns about increased risks of injury, which they say comes from independent research.A report said there could be 'at least a 20-30 per cent risk' of injury when a female player is tackled by a player who has gone through male puberty, as reported by the BBC.

Sir Clive Woodward has launched a stinging rebuke aimed towards the nations - both established and emerging - who helped re-elect Sir Bill Beaumont as World While World Rugby hasn’t yet released a breakdown of the voting, Woodward indicated all four nations opted against voting for Pichot, who

What is even stranger is that the 12 players involved on Wednesday included Chris Robshaw and Richard Wigglesworth — two model professionals who have led hitherto blameless professional careers for 15 years or more.

What were they and the others thinking? Do they not watch the news?

And why didn't the Barbarians and RFU spell it out to them? This is what you can do and this is what you cannot do. Step out of the bubble and we cannot pick you. They have been adhering to similar routines with their clubs for three months or more so they know the score.

Playing against England at Twickenham on Sunday was meant to be a fond farewell to the English game for Robshaw and Wigglesworth and although it was going to be a slightly surreal occasion at an empty stadium I am sure both were looking forward to it immensely.

Man Utd backing Solskjaer but 'have nothing to say' on European Premier League

Man Utd backing Solskjaer but 'have nothing to say' on European Premier League Manchester United are said to be involved in European Premier League talks, but Ed Woodward said: "I don't know where that story came from."Talks over the mooted competition, detailed in a Sky News story, are said to involve United and rivals Liverpool.

SIR CLIVE WOODWARD : In just two matches, all England's magic and confidence has been dismantled. Owen Farrell endured his worst game EVER and Alex Dombrandt must be called in from the cold to start against Scotland at No 8.

SIR CLIVE WOODWARD : That was much more than a reality check. The mystique which takes time to build was smashed in Dublin and Ireland won with something to spare. It should be added that Andy Farrell did a magnificent job organising the Ireland defence which never looked like leaking a try.

And now their careers in England end in this bizarre, incongruous way, being thrown out of the Barbarians squad like naughty schoolboys before the game was promptly cancelled.

From what we can gather the Wednesday night meal was not a drunken late night episode in the old Barbarians tradition — everybody was back in the hotel before the 10pm curfew but given the restrictions in London, who on earth thought it was acceptable to slip out in such large numbers without checking with anybody if it was OK?

I'm trying hard to find a sympathetic angle whatsoever and I speak as somebody who was proud to play for the Barbarians.

There were a few posts on social media of the Barbarians squad playing indoor cricket earlier in the day in the function room of the hotel where they were staying.

Bananarama remember their early days of living in the Sex Pistol’s studio and eating Smash

Bananarama remember their early days of living in the Sex Pistol’s studio and eating Smash In their new memoir, Really Saying Something, Karen Woodward and Sara Dallin remember the early days of Bananarama, before hitting the big time. The pair, who were appearing on White Wine Question Time, chatted with Kate Thornton about moving to London, where they ended up living in the Sex Pistol’s former studios! “It was squalid!” remembered Woodward. “It really was. It had a horrible outside toilet that was filthy and I imagine the Sex Pistols would use ten years before, five years before us!”Dallin, who said that the Sex Pistols still rehearsed there with their new bands, recalled the rather sparse living conditions at the time.

It's 15 years ago that SIR CLIVE WOODWARD and England won the Rugby World Cup. React to what's happening. We felt secure 14-5 up at half-time and if Ben Kay, usually the safest pair Nothing else should enter your head, just focus all your efforts on the next game and, just possibly, one day

SIR CLIVE WOODWARD : Many years ago I took England for a couple of training camps with the Royal Marines and my mind went back to those days The Marines were incredibly fit, the best soldiers in the world, but you might think there was nothing much they could teach us about rugby .You could not

Perhaps time was dragging a little in a Barbarians week which is traditionally packed with trips to shows, treats, meals and a few end of season beers. That is why they all like to be involved.

A touch of cabin fever might have set in but having set such a great example with their clubs over the last two or three months I cannot get my head round how they suddenly all lost their heads, went off message and torpedoed the fixture.

What a horrible mess. Rugby needs all the help it can get from TV and sponsors at present and both have been badly let down by this.
