Tom Blomfield, the boss and founder of digital bank Monzo is quitting the company at the end of this month, and admitted he stopped enjoying the job around two years ago.

Blomfield said he was at his best when Monzo was a 'scrappy' start-up finding its way in the banking world rather than a 'really important' bank like now.

Having been in the top job while Monzo axed staff and shut its Las Vegas office, Blomfield said the pandemic had a negative impact on his mental health and 'exacerbated' his unease about his role at the company.
