And last night Theresa May cut loose again - on the dance floor - as she unleashed the Maybot to celebrate winning an award for her political work.

The former PM unleashed her famously awkward robotic dance routine after she picked up the Spectator Magazine's Backbencher of the Year award.

Mrs May was ridiculed when she initially cut some rug in front of astonished schoolchildren on a trip to South Africa.

But she has since claimed it as a signature move to cut through her sometimes stuffy image - including at a Conservative Party Conference.

Since leaving power in July 2019 she has been a vocal critic of Boris Johnson's Government while speaking out on a number of issues.

As she accepted the award she joked: 'Thank you to all of my parliamentary colleagues who ensured that I was on the backbenches – some of you are here tonight.'

In 2018 Mrs May sparked headlines after she was filmed gyrating awkwardly in front of a group of school children in South Africa, before a second performance days later in Kenya.

She has accused Mr Johnson of a lack of 'moral leadership' after he cut the foreign aid budget and threatened to break international law in Brexit talks.
