Alongside these warnings, the Met Office has said: "Surfaces may become icy in places on Sunday night and early Monday, making for tricky travel."

The Met Office said in its latest weather update for Sunday evening: "Cold and frosty.

"Further wintry showers in the east whilst early evening snow in the south clears.

"Cloud and rain into Northern Ireland and Scotland later, some inland snow Scotland."

THE Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for snow as forecasters predict a white-out for parts of the country.According to the Met Office, up to 8cm of snow is expected to fall for parts of Scotland. A further 2cm could also be seen for lower parts of Scotland on Saturday afternoon. The weather warning is in place between 3pm and 11.59pm on Saturday.
