SNOW appeared in parts of the UK this weekend as Storm Arwen swept through the British Isles - but more is on the way as weather maps pinpoint the exact dates and locations where the next dump will hit . From Monday, December 6 to Wednesday, December 8, snow is expected to fall once again across parts of Scotland and northern England, including Cumbria and Newcastle upon Tyne. As we move into Thursday wintry conditions are prepared to move into areas of Wales and north west England for a time, lasting until around Friday morning.

Storm Arwen has caused havoc throughout Britain over the weekend, with the nation gripped by sub-zero temperatures while some parts were covered in several centimetres of snow. The Met Office issued several yellow warnings for ice across the UK with two also in place for today (Monday) as the freezing conditions caused widespread havoc. But any hopes of a return to warmer weather will be dashed with forecasters and weather charts revealing a freezing Arctic blast will send temperatures tumbling.

The map from Netweather once again begins turning icy blue on Wednesday morning, with an area of North East Scotland freezing in minimum temperatures of -3C.

This icy blast quickly spreads throughout the UK during the course of Thursday morning, with large parts of the nation set to be blanketed in snowfall.

The same area of Scotland is set to be covered in 9cm on snow, increasing to 10cm early on Friday.

Meanwhile, Central Scotland will see 4cm of snow on Thursday afternoon, up to 3cm falling between the Midlands and the North West, while northern and southern areas of England are also at high risk of snowfall.

The Weather Outlook's Brian Gaze said cold Arctic air will make a return southwards during Wednesday and Thursday, with a "widespread frost" likely and showers "increasingly" turning wintry.

He warned heading into Friday, weather fronts will rush in from the Atlantic that could trigger snow in central and northern parts of Britain.

Mr Gaze told Express.co.uk: "After a milder interlude cold Arctic air will return southwards during Wednesday and Thursday.

"Quite a widespread frost is likely on Thursday morning and showers increasingly turn wintry, particularly in the north.

Netweather senior forecaster Jo Farrow said: "Colder air moves in from the northwest on Tuesday night to all but the far SE of Britain.

"It does turn colder here by day but much colder for Scotland by Wednesday evening and a widespread frost overnight.

"A real chill for Thursday morning with that north wind.

"It will be a cold day on Thursday with sleet and snow showers for the far north of Scotland, a few clipping north Norfolk, northern counties of Northern Ireland, down through the North Channel to the Isle of Man and over Wales, maybe reaching north Devon.

"The winds do ease through the day and again it turns very cold at night, more frost for Britain.

"An occluding front moves in from the west and will come up against that cold air, so that could be interesting by Friday morning, particularly for the high ground of NW England and Scotland but not exclusively

"So a mobile week with blasts of cold Arctic air, milder interludes, frost and blustery winds and still the chance of more snow but it's mainly over the hills."
