Croydon is one of the most dangerous places to drive in outer London as the number of people killed or involved in a serious car road traffic incident rose by 10 per cent between 2020 and 2021, provisional data suggests. The number of people involved in a serious collision in Croydon last year was 162 - the most out of any outer London borough.

This is significantly higher than surrounding boroughs, including Sutton which saw 65 collisions where someone was killed or seriously injured, as well Merton, which saw 75. However, Croydon has a significantly larger population than these two boroughs, which is likely to be reflected in these figures.

Motorists blast Sadiq Khan over plans to expand ULEZ and slap drivers with £12 charge OUTSIDE London

Motorists blast Sadiq Khan over plans to expand ULEZ and slap drivers with £12 charge OUTSIDE London Transport for London (TfL) is consulting on expanding the ULEZ to cover the whole of Greater London - including Bromley, Wembley, Croydon and Ealing - from August next year. However, families who live in Dartford and travel into neighbouring Bexley will be forced to fork out the 'unavoidable' £12.50-a-day to drive in the ULEZ, placing an extra burden on households amid the cost of living crisis. One homeowner said he would face paying £12 to travel from his home in Dartford to Sainsbury's in Crayford - which is only one mile away.

As for the rest of London, Westminster saw the highest number of serious road collisions (221), matched only by Lambeth. In Wandsworth, South West London, the figure stood 174, while in Southwark it was 167. All four are considered to be in inner London.
