Voters in Gorakhpur, a constituency in northern Uttar Pradesh which Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath represented five times in Parliament, elected a new lawmaker Sunday.

Today, Adityanath will find out if they chose Upendra Dutt Shukla, the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) candidate.

Now, a loss for the BJP in Gorakhpur wouldn't do much to dent its impressive 272-seat majority* in the Lok Sabha. Nevertheless, it would be a crushing blow. The BJP hasn't lost here since 1991.
