Deputy Commissioner of Police (Kishtwar) Angrez Singh Rana said 11 bodies were recovered from the spot during the rescue operation. Five people succumbed to injuries at a hospital.

Many people are feared trapped underneath, some still in their vehicles. One person was killed, 19 were injured and they have been shifted to the hospital.
Eleven people who were injured in the accident were airlifted to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu.
The district administration has announced an ex-gratia relief of Rs 5 lakh each to the next of kin of the deceased, while Rs 50,000 will be given to each of the injured persons, news agency PTI reported.
