Punjab minister Navjot Singh Sidhu's recent visit to Pakistan has invited more ridicule than appreciation in view of a Hafiz Saeed aide being spotted at the ground-breaking ceremony, hobnobbing with the dignitaries.

In what may now invite more jibes by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the aide, known by the name of Gopal Singh Chawla, posted a picture with Sidhu on his Facebook account on Thursday morning.

The picture has the caption: "with sedu pa g [with Sidhu]"

When Chawla was spotted at the ceremony on Wednesday, the Indian media, including India Today, raised questions over the presence of a person who had, evidently, colluded with Hafiz Saeed in hatching a plan for bombing Mumbai on November 26, 2008.

Jaitley responded saying that for India, Hafiz is a terrorist and was indeed involved in terrorism against India. The government of India has nothing to do with "directly, indirectly or even remotely" with any journalist meeting Saeed He is on India's most wanted list and has a bounty of million on him.

Jamat-ud-Dawa (JUD) chief Hafiz Saeed has invited Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan to live in Pakistan alleging that Muslims in India are ”Any such Muslim, even Shahrukh who is facing difficulty and discrimination in India because of Islam are invited to stay in Pakistan,” Saeed posted on Twitter.

To this end, the spokesperson of the Pakistan Armed Forces, Major General Asif Ghafoor, said a peace initiative should not be subjected to propaganda.

He tagged India Today and tweeted, "Indian media taking a myopic view is selectively showing Mr. Gopal Chawla meeting COAS. Army Chief met all guests at the venue irrespective of identity. A peace initiative should not be subjected to propaganda."

While yesterday's picture looked more like a photograph, taken by chance, Thursday's picture is a clearer evidence that the Saeed aide indeed met the Indian minister.

In response, the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), Congress's opposition party in Punjab, has asked for Sidhu's ouster from the Punjab cabinet.

Manjinder S Sirsa, General Secretary, DSGMC and National spokesperson, SAD, tweeted: "[email protected]_amarinder declined to visit Pak bcos Pak supports anti-India & anti-Punjab activities; but his own Minister @sherryontopp goes agnst his wish & gets clickd with Gopal S Chawla; close aide of Hafiz Saeed & anti-India persn. Wud Captain Sahab sack his irresponsible Minister?"

The picture has not gone down well with the Twitterati too, who have called out Sidhu for his 'double face' and "hurting the sentiments of Indians."
