  Gardaí warn people after victims lose thousands of euro in iTunes gift card scam In recent weeks, a number of people have fallen victim to this scam. In counties Wicklow and Tipperary two people purchased in excess of €1,000 worth of vouchers.In Galway, another person was scammed out of €2,200. In Dublin, one person attempted to purchase €1,000 in iTunes gift cards at a supermarket, before a member of staff became suspicious and contacted gardaí.The scam works like this:The victim will receive a phone call or voicemail from the scammer, claiming to be a representative of an organisation to which they claim the victim owes money.

A search will begin of a 40-acre area of woodlands close to the village of Castlemartyr in east Cork as part of an investigation into the disappearance of Tina Satchwell . Mrs Satchwell has not been seen since she disappeared almost a year ago from the home she shared in Youghal with her husband

Investigators have received a critical clue that could solve the disappearance of missing woman Tina Satchwell.

The 45-year-old vanished from her family home in Youghal, Co Cork, on March 24 last year, with two suitcases but minus her mobile phone.

Mystery has surrounded her disappearance ever since with her husband Richard believing that she was harmed.

Now gardai have received a clue they believe could lead to finding her.

A source said: “Information has come through from their enquiries and that could lead to moving this investigation forward.

  Woman killed and man left with serious injuries following crash A woman has died and a man left with serious injuries following a car accident on the N80. The fatal collision occurred at around 10pm on Friday night on the N80 at BallickmoylerA 48-year-old woman and driver of one of the cars died at the scene. The driver of the second car, a man in his 40s, was rushed to Tullamore Hospital. His injuries are understood to be serious.The road is currently closed to traffic and local diversions are in place. Garda forensic collision investigators will examine the crash site later this morning. The local Coroner has been notified.Gardaí in Portlaoise are appealing for witnesses.

“Investigators do not want to say what that information is as yet but it is believed it could be a critical piece of the puzzle.

“They will need to look into it and examine it closely but it could be a significant development.”

Richard Satchwell reported his wife missing and told gardai he had not seen her in four days.

In a twist to the case, he told officers on July 9, he found two suitcases which looked similar to ones owned by his wife at a clothes bank in the Tesco car park in Youghal, Co Cork.

However, following DNA analysis detectives determined they had no connection with Tina.

Richard also appeared on RTE’s Prime Time appealed for help.

Asked if he thought someone had attacked Tina he replied: “It does at this point, and for a long time, go through my head if I’m honest.

"But then I know Tina as a person. She isn’t a pushover.

“And to be honest if ­somebody tried to attack her she’d pick the nearest thing up and whack them with it.”

He also claimed Tina would not have died by suicide , adding: “I say the same as I said all along, anyone who knew Tina, she, in my opinion, she’s too much in love with herself.”

Ms Satchwell, who has been missing for almost a year now, was officially last seen leaving her home in Youghal, Cork on March 24, 2017.Last Monday, Gardai began an extensive search at the 40 acre Mitchell’s Wood site in Castlemartyr, between Midleton and YoughalRichard Satchwell visited the search site last week, admitting he ‘felt sick’ as he watched officers comb through the woods.
