  Woman killed and man left with serious injuries following crash A woman has died and a man left with serious injuries following a car accident on the N80. The fatal collision occurred at around 10pm on Friday night on the N80 at BallickmoylerA 48-year-old woman and driver of one of the cars died at the scene. The driver of the second car, a man in his 40s, was rushed to Tullamore Hospital. His injuries are understood to be serious.The road is currently closed to traffic and local diversions are in place. Garda forensic collision investigators will examine the crash site later this morning. The local Coroner has been notified.Gardaí in Portlaoise are appealing for witnesses.

The car has since been found burnt out on the Nangor Road, Dublin 12. A garda spokesman told the Irish Sun: “ Gardai are investigating a firearms incident that occurred in the Earlsfort area of Lucan, Dublin , on 5th July 2018 at approximately 5:15pm.

Gardaí are investigating after six cars were burnt out in west Dublin last night.

The incident happened on Fortunestown Way amid a chaotic night in the Tallaght area.

"We are investigating criminal damage to 6 vehicles on Fortunestown Way last night," a garda spokesman told Independent.ie.

One local described how a gang of people drove the cars through the snow and then lit them on fire before fleeing.

Garda reinforcements from across the capital were called to the Fortunestown area last night as gardai tried to maintain order outside a Lidl supermarket.

The store was looted and the roof was smashed in with a digger.

Gardaí were also called to an incident at a Centra store in Jobstown, near the Blessington Road.

Nine people were arrested in relation to the incidents at the two supermarkets and eight people were due to appear in court this morning.

The men are all aged between 24 and 47 years old.
