The sunshine and high temperatures will continue across the capital today, with the mercury going as high as 23C.

And our ongoing 'heatwave' is going to continue into the weekend, with more high temperatures forecast for Friday.

We can expect the conditions to continue all the way into next week so make sure to keep the suncream close by!

A Met Eireann forecaster said: "Dry and very warm today. Long sunny spells. Highest temperatures 20C to 23C. Light variable winds. Sea breezes near shores.

"Dry and calm tonight. Some mist. Humid. Lowest temperatures 11C to 13C."

They continued: "Dry and warm again tomorrow. Varying cloud and good spells of hazy sunshine. Light winds. High of 19C to 22C."

The outlook for the weekend shows no sign of the sunshine and heat stopping, though we can expect some showers on Saturday and Sunday to keep the balance.
