The 26-year-old Anand Goel had been studying in Trinity College, but tragically fell to his death at the popular spot when visiting on Friday.

Anand fell at least 600 feet to the shores below after taking a selfie on the cliff's edge.

Originally from Delhi, he had moved to Dublin last September to study in the prestigious college.

It is understood that he was a keen photographer and sightseer and had arrived at the Cliffs of Moher on a tour bus.

In a statement, the Indian Embassy paid tribute to Mr Goel and confirmed that they were assisting his family.

One poster said: "May your beautiful soul rest in peace, my love. You were a very calm, responsible and loveable human, and an amazing friend!

"I wish this was just another nightmare.

"Thanks for everything you gave me in life..."

A pal said: "I am fortunate to have interacted with him and his family. Such wonderful people. It is only unfortunate that his life was a short one.

"May his soul rest in peace. My heart felt condolences to his family and all the lives that he has touched."

Another added: "For a minute I couldn’t believe it! Was just going through the school pictures.

So tragic. May he rest in peace."

It is understood that efforts are underway to repatriate Anand's remains to India.
