Teen who boasted about murder on social media given life term A teenager who told a friend "I've done an M" after stabbing a grandfather to death has been given a life sentence in prison. A video of Leary Dalton-Byrne, 18, boasting about the murder of 45-year-old Dean Ward in Finchley Park, Birmingham, was circulated on social media and led to his arrest. The killer stabbed Mr Ward to death with a large kitchen knife in a "brutal and sustained attack" in June last year. Dalton-Byrne had asked the victim for a cigarette and when he said he did not smoke, he was stabbed repeatedly in the legs.

A 14-year-old teen was at knocked unconscious after being brutally beaten at the hands of a gang of up to 40 thugs armed with knives.

The incident happened in Ashbourne on Friday evening with the thugs laughing at the attack and uploading videos to Snapchat.

The boy, who is currently in hospital, had his phone and wallet taken before being dragged to the 3rd storey of a multi-storey car park where he was ruthlessly beaten.

Gardai rushed to the scene and were forced to use pepper spray on the crowd who attempted to fight them back.

One person was arrested.

The innocent teen, who was picked out at random, is now in hospital where he's stable.

Speaking to Dublin Live, the young man's distraught mother said that things would have been "a whole lot worse" had gardai not intervened.

She said: "He's never been in trouble, he's the best kid in the world. He was standing outside the McDonalds and this crowd just came up and said 'who are you?' then bang.

"They dragged him up to the 3rd floor of a car park because it was isolated and they killed him.

"They held him up and every time he tried to run they grabbed him back.

"They bounced his head off the ground, his leg his arms, his ribs, his back, he's not in a good way at all.

"They're animals. Lucky the two guards came because they had knives.

"He doesn't know them, he just kept asking them 'what did I do?'."

The gang, who are believed to be from different areas of North County Dublin, then got on buses and fled the scene.

Gardai said one person was arrested while the investigation is ongoing.

"Gardaí attended an incident of public order and an assault on a youth which occurred on the 8th March 2019 at a carpark in Killegland,  Ashbourne at approximately 7pm .

"A male teenager received minor injuries in the assault and a female youth was arrested in relation to the public order incident. The investigation is ongoing."
