Time to bundle up as Met Eireann has predicted freezing temperatures and snow over the weekend . Ireland will be hit by temperatures as low as 0C “Lowest temperatures of 0C to 3C with moderate to fresh westerly winds. “Sunday will be a very cold day with sunny spells and wintry showers of rain hail.

Dublin weather forecast by RTÉ and Met Éireann . Staying very windy for the rest of the day with scattered blustery showers. Some of the showers will be heavy with hail and a risk of thunder. Forecast for Irish coastal waters from Fair Head to Howth Head to Carnsore Point and for the Irish Sea.

St Patrick's Day is looking cold and blustery as Met Eireann warned we'll see rain showers with hail and thunder on Sunday.

And up to 3cm of snow could fall in the northwest this weekend.

The national forecaster issued a Status Yellow snow-ice warning for Donegal as they revealed snow is set to fall tonight and in the early hours of Saturday.

A forecaster warned accumulations of up to 3cm are expected and on high ground accumulations are likely to be greater.

The warning comes into effect at midnight tonight until 12pm on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Friday will start off windy with some patchy rain in the southwest of the country and scattered showers elsewhere.

Saturday morning will be wet and blustery with spells of rain and strong and gusty southwest to west winds.

The rain will ease in the afternoon with a clearance to sunshine and blustery showers following, some with hail and thunder.

Met Éireann , the Irish National Meteorological Service, is the leading provider of weather information and related services for Ireland. During the afternoon and evening, cloud and persistent drizzle will move into Connacht, Ulster and north Leinster, whilst elsewhere any rain will be patchy.

A Status Yellow snow - ice warning has been issued by Met Eireann . The warning is in place for all counties A Met Eireann forecaster said : “The rain, sleet and snow will turn more showery overnight, but still occasionally heavy Sunday will be “ cold and raw day with widespread blustery showers”.

It will be cold in the northwest with temperatures as low as 3C in the northwest and highs of 11C to 12C in the southeast.

Paradegoers will have to wrap up warm on Sunday as St Patrick's Day looks set to be cold and blustery with "sunny spells" and "passing showers, some with hail and thunder".

Highest temperatures will reach 7C to 9C but winds will be fresh and gusty.

Showers will retreat overnight with lows of 1C to 4C.

Monday is expected to be a cloudy day with scattered patches of rain and drizzle. Highs of 8C to 11C in moderate westerly winds.
