'My knife's bigger than yours': Pensioner's police statement read at burglar inquest A burglar who was killed by an elderly homeowner "may have been experiencing the effects" of drugs at the time of the break-in. Henry Vincent was stabbed as he burgled the home of Richard Osborn-Brooks in Hither Green, southeast London, on 4 April 2018. At an inquest into his death, the pathologist who carried out the post-mortem on Vincent said a toxicology report indicated "a recent use of both cocaine and heroin". Vincent's cause of death was given as an incised wound to the chest.

A man has been arrested by Gardai following a reported armed robbery on Saturday morning in Balbriggan.

A lone male entered the retail premises in a shopping centre in the area just before 12pm and demanded money.

The man was armed with a knife and a sum of cash was stolen from the shop.

No injuries were sustained and Gardai confirmed that the man, who is in his 20s, was arrested shortly after.

He is currently detained at Balbriggan station under Section 4 of the criminal justice act and investigations are ongoing.

One local said that "the Garda helicopter was hovering around the area for a while following the incident".
