The body of a man in his 30s has been discovered following an apparent paragliding accident.

The man is believed to have been on the Wicklow Mountains yesterday, Saturday May 11th,  and failed to return to his North Dublin home.

Gardaí and the Wicklow Mountain Rescue commenced a search together with the Irish Coast Guard Rescue.

At approximately 8am this morning, the man’s body was discovered in a field at Ballinacor Estate, Wicklow ,together with wreckage.

The body will be removed this morning for a post mortem examination. The Air Accident Investigation Unit (AAIU) have been informed and will commence an investigation.

Kerry Mountain Rescue send sympathies to family of deceased Carrauntoohil climber The rescue team who tried to save the life of man who fell while climbing Carrauntoohil said their thoughts are with the family of the deceased. The Kerry Mountain Rescue team and the Rescue 115 helicopter spent six hours on the operation yesterday. Despite their best efforts, the man died after he suffered injuries sustained following a significant fall, it is understood. The deceased has been named locally as Gerry Duffy, who was in his 50s and from Co Clare. It's believed he fell some 650 feet from the Hag’s Tooth Ridge in the Beenkeragh Ridge near Carrauntoohil in the MacGillycuddy's Reeks in county Kerry.
