The teen was set upon by the gang, which is thought to have numbered as many as 40, who beat him and robbed him of his phone and money. A young teen was left in a serious condition after a horror attack in North Dublin that could've been much worse if it weren't for a heroic taxi driver.

Gardai are on the hunt for two thug teens who beat and robbed a 15-year-old while he was out on his bike on Glasnevin Avenue on Friday June 7th.

The evil teens punched the young man repeatedly in the head before leaving him with serious injuries and taking his bike.

A passing taxi driver who saw the attack ran in to help the teen who was then rushed to Temple Street Hospital.

The driver also attempted to chase after the two culprits.

A spokesperson said: "Gardai are investigating an assault that occurred on Glasnevin Avenue D11 on the 7th June 2019 at approximately  21.40pm.

"A male in his teens was allegedly assaulted by 2 other youths who also stole his bike.

"The injured youth was taken to Temple St Children’s Hospital with serious but non life threatening injuries. Investigations are ongoing."

Meanwhile the boy's mother has made an appeal to help find the driver who helped describing him as "a hero" but also "an important witness".

She said: "I’m looking to find a taxi driver who stopped to help my son (15) when he was attacked on Glasnevin Avenue last Friday night at 9.40pm.
