Gardaí reviewing CCTV as woman alleges sexual assault by group of men close to Luas stop Detectives are investigating an allegation of a serious sexual assault in Dublin over the weekend. A woman alleged she was attacked by a number of men on the city's southside, having taken a Luas into town earlier that day. She was found near a property in Rialto, Dublin 8, in a distressed state and gardaí were later called. It is understood the incident is alleged to have happened near the Luas stop at Rialto on Friday evening, although inquiries to determine the exact location of the assault are ongoing. Over the weekend the matter was formally reported to gardaí at Rathfarnham who are carrying out a probe into the alleged sexual assault.

GAA star Ashling Thompson has pleaded guilty to a second assault in a nightclub.

The Cork player (28) pleaded guilty before Judge John King in Cork District Court to assaulting a woman in a Cork city centre nightclub last year.

Her plea came after she admitted assaulting another woman in the same nightclub on the same night before Cork District Court on May 1 last.

Judge King was told that Thompson was pleading guilty to assaulting Aoife O'Flaherty in Rearden's Nightclub on Washington Street on February 25, 2018.

Judge King was handed a written victim impact statement on behalf of Ms O'Flaherty.

However, he warned that he was unable to deal with the matter as he did not have notes about the previous court hearing which was dealt with before a different judge.

"These matters should be dealt with together," he said. "They should not be dealt with in isolation."

Judge King said that as he didn't have detailed notes of the previous hearing he could not proceed with the two matters. He adjourned sentencing until June 25 next.
