The Rally driving community in Donegal are in mourning following the news that driver and Donegal councillor Manus Kelly died during the international rally.

Kelly was defending champion and well placed going into Sunday’s stage, sitting 3rd place in the R5s and 6th overall with Fanad, Atlantic Drive and Port Lake still to come.

Winner of the rally for the past three years, Kelly had urged those watching the race to take care ahead of the start of the weekend’s stages.

Manus ‘Mandy’ Kelly is survived by his wife and five children.
