Gardaí are currently investigating a frightening broad daylight assault involving a number of women in a Kildare town.

The incident took place in the Convent Garden area of Athy at 2:55pm on 2 July.

The assault included a number of women who were involved in the on-street fracas.

Gardaí are currently investigating "all circumstances" involving the assault.

They have appealed for witnesses to come forward while enquiries are ongoing.

They said: "We are asking anyone with information to contact Gardaí on 059-8643210."
