A woman has been arrested in connection with the death of two-year-old girl at an apartment block in Cork city last Friday. The woman is being held for Gardai began a murder investigation after receiving the results of the postmortem. These results are not being released for operational reasons.

One of the first people on the scene was a trained advance paramedic, who worked frantically to revive the two-year-old before the first ambulance crew arrived.

An initial examination showed she had suffered bone fractures, cuts and head injuries. A large amount of blood was also present at the scene.
