It’s been revealed that around 800 women who underwent CervicalCheck screenings did not receive their results due to an IT issue.

According to RTE, the HSE issued an apology today for the issue and acknowledged the resulting anxiety this would have given many women.

Not only did the women themselves not receive their results but their GPs also didn’t get them.

The laboratory with the issue is based in the US – a Quest Diagnostics laboratory in Chantilly, Virginia.

The HSE said the lab was quality assured and part of extra Quest Diagnostics capacity secured by Cervical Check.

The issue was due to slower than expected IT updates and hence, 800 letters weren’t issued.
