Ireland is set for another wet weekend, but temperatures will soar early next week.

Despite heavy showers on Saturday and Sunday, Monday and Tuesday will see the jump in heat along with scorching sunshine.

A Met Eireann forecaster said: "Locally overcast and damp to begin with any lingering overnight rain quickly clearing eastwards.

"Overall dry for the rest of the day with a mix of sunny spells and cloudier intervals, though light passing showers will affect the west and southwest... Similar temperatures for tomorrow with blustery spells of heavy rain moving in off the Atlantic and becoming fairly widespread into the afternoon and evening.

"Spot flooding is possible later, especially across the west and northwest."

Monday will then see things take a turn for the better, as things begin to heat up.

They added: "Monday will be a very warm and humid day; breezy at times too in a moderate to fresh southwest breeze. Overall dry with long spells of summer sunshine, though low cloud and coastal fog may affect some southern and western coasts.
