A 19 -year-old woman has been raped after becoming unwell in Sussex. She was walking along Crescent Drive North when she became unwell and was approached by a man in a car. He pushed her against a wall and raped her before driving away, police said.

A Galway teenager has died after becoming unwell at a Debs dance in Co Galway.

It is understood she had been attending the dance in Ballinasloe but is from the Loughrea area.

The 19 year old reported feeling unwell at around 2am this morning at the hotel where the dance was taking place.

She was taken to Portiuncula Hospital but died a short time later.

A post mortem examination is due to take place tomorrow.

Gardaí are investigating the circumstances of the young woman’s death.

It is understood that the rapist was living with a female friend in the area . That women herself has moved out of the house. Locals reported that the convict had not been seen since last week and they got word this morning that he had left the premises and that the locks had been changed. One of the conditions of the partial suspension of his most recent sentence was that he be of good behaviour for three years after his release. Locals had pleaded with gardaí to arrest the man as he was not fulfilling the terms of his release.
