A US- bound flight was forced to return to Dublin Airport today after the crew declared a medical emergency over the Atlantic. The passenger was removed to hospital for treatment. An airline spokeswoman confirmed: “ Aer Lingus can confirm that EI 101 ( Dublin to Newark) had to turn back

The plane left Dublin shortly after 2:30pm this afternoon but was forced to make an emergency call over Liverpool.

The 20-year-old Avro RJ85 jet then returned to Dublin Airport.

Airport Webcams shared details of the flight on Twitter.

They said: "Aer Lingus EI286 Dublin to London City (Avro RJ85 EI-RJI) squawked 7700 General Emergency over Liverpool, declared Pan Pan with Scottish ACC and has just returned to DUB with a pressurisation problem."
