There are multiple flight delays across Europe after an air traffic control failure in France.

Eurocontrol, which monitors air traffic across Europe, is reporting thee are currently 5,619 hours of delays across the continent, with London Gatwick the most clogged up airport.

Dublin Airport is also affected, including flights to and from Malaga.

Just after 9.20am Paris Airport confirmed there had been a ‘national computer failure related to the centralisation of flight plans’ but that the issue had now been resolved.

Delays were still to be expected, it added, and passengers should direct any questions to their airlines.

Ryanair addressed the delays in a statement, with their flights from Malaga and Madrid travelling to Ireland all delayed by the issue in France.

It read: ‘Due to French ATC equipment failure, this could lead to long delays and possible ATC cancellations later on Sunday especially to flights operating across France.’
