Garda arrested for suspected firearm offences understood to be a gun enthusiast THE garda arrested on suspicion of firearms offences is understood to be a member of a gun club with a firearms licence and has no links to organised crime. 

Gardaí recovered two firearms and ammunition shortly after 1pm today.

GARDAÍ INVESTIGATING ORGANISED crime have arrested a man and seized two firearms in north Dublin.

Officers attached to the garda national drugs and organised crime bureau supported by local gardaí conducted a number of intelligence-led operations yesterday and today targeting those involved in serious organised crime.

During the operation, a premise and communal area were searched in the Donaghmede area of Dublin 13. Officers from the emergency response unit also intercepted a number of vehicles.

Gardai confirmed they are investigating the crash and appealed for witnesses to come forward. A garda spokesman added: "Anyone with information is asked to contact Kells Garda Station 046-9280820 or the Man ( 44 ) arrested after gardaí seize guns in organised crime probe (Journal.ie).

A 44-year-old man was arrested and is being held at Coolock Garda Station for questioning.

26-year-old Lewis Davis has been charged in connection with a firearms and drug seizure after he allegedly threw a bag of heroin out of his apartment window . Gardai claim they two guns along with heroin and cannabis plants during a search at Palmerston Hall, Dominick Street, D7, at around 5pm on Thursday evening. They raided the apartment after a strong smell of cannabis was noticed on the street outside. Two men were arrested and detained at Mountjoy Garda Station under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.
