'It has struck the heart of everyone here' - Baby killed in Limerick car accident named as mum is treated in hospital A community is mourning the death of a loss of a baby boy and praying for the recovery of his mother after the pair were involved in a devastating car accident in Co Limerick. 

A man in his seventies has died after being struck by a car in Co Roscommon . The incident happened on Bridge Street in Strokestown shortly before 8pm. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. The female driver of the car was not injured.

A man in his 70 s has died after the car he was driving struck a pole in Fermoy. The incident happened on Mill Road in the Co Cork town shortly after 2pm. The man , who was the only occupant of the car , was pronounced dead at the scene.

A MAN IN his 70s has died following a single vehicle collision in Co Roscommon.

The incident happened when the car the man was driving struck a wall at Ballyforan at around 4.50am this morning.

Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene.

The driver, a man in his 70s, was taken to Roscommon University Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. A post-mortem examination is due to take place later today.

A female passenger was uninjured in the incident.

The road remains closed to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and local diversions are in place.
