Second man arrested on suspicion of murder by gardaí investigating fatal Tallaght assault The father-of-two was discovered with head injuries by passers-by in Killinarden Estate in Tallaght last month.

The incident occurred at 11.55pm last night in Aghamore, Ballyhaunis in Mayo.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, and the scene has been preserved for technical examination.

A man in his 80s has been arrested in relation to the incident, and is being held at Castlebar Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

An incident room has been established at Claremorris Garda Station

Gardaí are appealing for anyone who may have information that can help them with the investigation to contact Claremorris Garda Station on 094 937 2080, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any garda station.

Millionaire withholds €250,000 from Mayo county board .
A millionaire backer has withheld €250,000 in funding from Mayo GAA’s county board in a row over governance. The cash was pledged by a foundation set up by UK-based trader Tim O’Leary, who says he has already contributed €415,000 toward the county’s cause since last year. The Mayo GAA International Supporters Foundation offered to provide financial support toward the creation of an academy facility and a centre of excellence. However, a row erupted after the foundation said it hadn’t been supplied with business plans for either project.
