Parents have been left terrified for their children's safety going to school after two separate alleged incidents of primary pupils being suspiciously approached in the space of six days.

Gaelscoil Baile Brigín alerted parents over text message about the approaches - both of which allegedly involved two women trying to convince students in the National School to get into the car.

The first text message sent on September 11 reads: "Gardai have been informed regarding an incident this morning whereby a car with two women stopped a student and tried to get the student into the vehicle."

A similar second text message was sent on September 17 with the same description of the people involved but the school added that this approach happened near the AIB in the area.

Gaelscoil Baile Brigín added: "We would ask all parents to discuss safety around this with your children. Teachers will also cover this topic in the school."

One of the parents, whose 12-year-old girl was allegedly approached on September 17, told Dublin Live: "My child met with gardai on Tuesday to give a statement after it happened.

"It was two women in a black car. One was in her 30s, she had dark hair and was wearing a baseball cap.

"The other was a heavy girl but my child didn't get a good enough look at her.

The parent added the child said that "both women seemed to be Irish".
