Fines for restaurants who give customers plastic straws after ban – minister Richard Bruton said the Government will be following through on an EU directive to ban single-use plastics by 2021. When asked what penalties restaurants or bars who still provide single-use plastic straws to customers after the ban would face, Mr Bruton said: “Ultimately they will get fined but the reality is consumers will apply self-policing of these things. “I think people realise very quickly that if places are offering plastic straws when it is illegal to do so, their customer base will tell them very quickly and there are alternatives they can use that are compostible.

Six Dublin spots have been ranked amongst the top 100 Best Italian Restaurants in Europe.

The list was compiled by The Love Italian Life Awards with a panel of Italian food experts reviewing restaurants in over 20 different cities in Europe.

These are the Dublin restaurants that made the cut:

  • Forno 500 (Dame St)
  • I Monelli (Portobello Road)
  • Pinocchio (Ranelagh)
  • Rosa Madre (Temple Bar)
  • Terra Madre (Bachelors Walk)
  • Da Mimmo (North Strand Road)

Owner of Rosa Madre Luca De Marzio, who is originally from Rome and won the ‘Best Authentic Italian Restaurant in Dublin 2018’ award said: “People across Ireland and those particularly in Dublin make you feel welcome from day one.

Dublin Airport is looking for immigration control officers and the pay is fantastic .
Candidates will have the chance to work at one of the busiest airports in Europe in what has been described as a “front line” operational environment. Successful candidates will be paid between €459.65 to €762.68 per week and will be appointed to immigration duties in the Border Management Unit at the airport. The role will involve deciding on the granting of permission to individual to enter the country and where applicable refusing entry, examining passports and identify forged documents, conducting personal interviews with passengers, and working in cooperation with An Garda Siochana.
