You’ve heard of swimming with the sharks, but what about dancing with the lions? That’s what one woman did Saturday at New York City’s Bronx Zoo when she climbed over the safety rail at the African lion exhibit. The unidentified woman was filmed standing in the exhibit near a lion with only a moat with a 14-foot drop separating them, according to CBS New York. The woman appears to dance for the lion, who doesn’t appear to be impressed, based on this Instagram video of the incident. A detective sergeant who arrested the two accused, said neither of the two said anything after they were charged with the offences on Friday. He added the Director of Public Prosecutions had on that date directed they each be sent forward for trial to the Central Criminal Court on a number of charges .

The defendants, who cannot be named for legal reasons, were arrested at a Garda station at 9am yesterday.
They appeared in court and were charged with offences contrary to the Children’s Act.
A judge heard these were “additional charges” arising out of an ongoing investigation after the man, 54, and 32-year-old woman had originally appeared before a court four months ago.
Yesterday they each faced four counts that “while being a person having custody of a (named) child, did wilfully ill-treat, neglect, or cause, procure, or allow, the said child to be ill treated and neglected in a manner likely to cause unnecessary suffering, injury to the child’s health, or seriously to effect the child’s well-being”.
