Gardai are investigating after an armed masked man held up a west Dublin post office earlier today.

The suspect threatened a member of staff at a post office in the Chapelizod area and demanded cash before leaving the scene on foot empty handed.

The lone man was armed with what’s believed to be a knife, and wore a puffer jacket with a hat and scarf covering his face.

The incident happened at 1pm and there were no injuries reported and no arrests have been made.

A garda spokeswoman said: “Gardaí are investigating an attempted robbery at a post office in the Chapelizod area of Ballyfermot on the 5th October 2019.
