A quick-thinking Swords resident helped to catch three suspected thieves late last night.

The woman was standing outside her home in Abbeyvale Avenue when she noticed three men acting suspiciously at a van parked in the estate.

She immediately alerted gardai, who stopped van the men were travelling in as they were driving away from the area.

The van was searched and the men were then arrested and taken to Swords Garda Station.

A garda spokesman told Dublin Live they are investigating the incident.

He said: "Gardaí on routine patrol stopped and searched a van on Monday 7 October in Abbeyvale Avenue, in Swords at approximately 11.50pm .

"Three males were arrested and then conveyed to Swords Garda station."
