Nine men have been injured after falling from a moving lorry as they celebrated a gaelic football victory, gardaí (Irish police) have said. It happened in Enniskerry in County Wicklow at about 18:30 local time on Saturday. The men were members of Enniskerry Gaelic Athletic Association ( GAA )

Nine people have been injured following a horror fall during a GAA celebration this evening. Those involved were celebrating a local GAA victory in Enniskerry, Co Wicklow on top of a lorry at the time.

Footage shows the celebrants holding a trophy and jumping up and down before falling from the back of the truck.

A Garda spokesman confirmed that the injured were rushed to Tallaght and St Vincent's hospitals, both in Dublin, for treatment. He said: "Gardai at Enniskerry are investigating an incident in which a group of young men were injured when they fell from the trailer of an articulated lorry.

Joy quickly turned to horror for a gaelic football team celebrating a cup win in the Irish village of Enniskerry as celebrating players were sent crashing off the top of a truck after a railing buckled. The injured men were rushed to nearby hospitals where they are being treated for their injuries.

"The incident occurred in Enniskerry Village this evening at approximately 6.30pm. "It’s understood up to nine people were injured and removed from the scene by ambulance to Tallaght and St Vincent's hospitals for treatment. Their injuries are not thought to be life threatening. "The road was closed for short time but has since reopened. Enquiries are ongoing."

It's understood the arrested man, 20s, had been staying in accommodation in the pub where the victim had also resided for the night.Both pubs had been cordoned off all through Saturday but were reopened for business by the evening.A garda spokesperson confirmed an arrest and said the victim is now in Wexford General Hospital.He said: "Gardai are investigating an assault incident that occurred at a public house in the Ballycanew area of Wexford on 19/10/19 at approximately 11:30am."A man in his 30s received several stab wounds and was taken to Wexford General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
