President Michael D Higgins has hit out at climate change deniers as well as highlighting the dangers posed by populists who use nationalism to further their aims.

To mark the 1000th issue of Hot Press magazine the President, who was once a regular columnist, spoke about climate change, environmental campaigner Greta Thunberg and the threat posed by the alt-right.

Mr Higgins also took the environmental fight to Donald Trump and his fellow climate change deniers while outlining his proposals for a greener planet that works for everyone.
