Firefighters rushed to the scene yesterday after a huge blaze broke out on the Main Street of a popular North Dublin town.

Three units attended a "well developed" fire at a derelict house on Balbriggan Main Street.

The street was closed off yesterday as three engines attended the scene as well as the ESB.

It was soon brought under control.

The Dublin Fire Brigade said: ""Today firefighters from Balbriggan, Skerries & Swords stations fought a well developed fire on Main St, Balbriggan in a vacant building. "

"Three fire engines on scene with and thanks to ESB for help."

"Damage was caused to the inside of the building and the roof,

"Investigations are now underway to establish the cause of the fire."
