Gardaí investigating the discovery of the body of a woman in her 80 s at a house near Ballyduff , Co Kerry yesterday say they are satisfied there was no foul play involved. A post-mortem examination was carried out on the woman 's body this afternoon. A file is to be prepared for the Coroner's Court.

The remains were discovered in the pensioner's home outside Ballyduff , Co Kerry around 10am today when friends and neighbours became concerned for the woman 's welfare. The pensioner had not been seen for a couple of days. She lived on her own in a property outside the village of Ballyduff .

Gardai have launched an investigation into the "sudden death" after the woman's remains were found at around 11.30am on Tuesday.

The find was made at a premises approximately 1km outside the town of Ballyduff, in the direction of Tralee.

A garda spokesman said: "The scene is currently preserved and a post mortem is scheduled to take place, the results of which will determine the course of the investigation."
