The Gardai are appealing for witnesses following a hit and run collision in Cork city.

In the early hours of Saturday morning, a 23 year old pedestrian was struck by a car on Magazine Road, Cork and sustained serious injuries.

The driver fled the scene shortly after hitting the woman.

Emergency services took the woman to Cork University Hospital and she now has life changing injuries.

Gardai have said the vehicle was travelling from Bandon Road onto Magazine Road near University College Cork.

The vehicle has been described as a dark coloured Volkswagen Polo and Gardai have said it may have slight damage to the front and rear of the car.

Anglesa Street Gardai are appealing for the driver to come forward and for any witnesses.

This includes either video or dash cam footage.

The incident took place on Saturday at approximately 3.15am on October 26.

Gardai have urged anyone with information to contact them at 021 452 2000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any other Garda Station.
