A cyclist has died after his bike was hit by a truck in Dublin this morning. The crash happened on the South Circular Road at the Bulfin Road junction at around 8.30am. The lorry driver was not injured. The section of road involved near St James's Hospital is closed and traffic diversions are in place.

The heartbreaking incident happened at 8.30am on the South Circular Road at the junction of Bulfin Road.

The deceased's body remains at the scene, which is preserved for Garda forensic collision investigators.

A garda spokesman said: "Gardaí are investigating a fatal road traffic collision that occurred this morning, Friday 1st November 2019, at approximately 9:00am on the South Circular Road at the junction of Bulfin Road.

"The collision involved a lorry and a pedal cyclist. The male cyclist (age currently unknown) was fatally injured. His body remains at the scene at this time.

A MALE cyclist reportedly died in a fatal crash in Dublin city centre today. According to The Irish Independent, the victim was killed just outside of a supermarket located near the St James Hospital building works at the South A total of nine people lost their lives while cycling on Irish roads in 2018.

Gardaí are appealing for motorists in the area who have dash cam footage to contact them.

"The lorry driver was uninjured. The scene is currently preserved for the arrival of the Garda forensic collision investigators to carry out their examination.

"The road is currently closed to traffic and diversions are in place.

"Gardaí are appealing for anyone with information, particularly any motorists who may have been on the South Circular Road between 8.15am - 8.45am who may have dash cam footage to come forward.

"Anyone with information is asked to contact Gardaí in Kevin Street on 01 6669400 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station."
